8 ideas for celebrating National Gratitude Month.

How will you appreciate employees during the season of giving?

November is National Gratitude Month! How will you celebrate in your organization and challenge employees to raise the bar on appreciation?

Thanks to your Workhuman® platform, you can recognize and show gratitude in your organization all year long. But National Gratitude Month is something special since it is the perfect opportunity to remind your employees about the many benefits of appreciating one another!

Here are eight ideas for celebrating National Gratitude Month in your organization:

1.   Remind company leaders about the benefits of gratitude.
Your leaders are likely familiar with some of the social benefits of gratitude – such as building relationships, increased compassion, and helping people feel included. They may also be seeing some of the practical benefits of gratitude in the workplace — – including retention, psychological safety, better career pathing, and leadership effectiveness.

Did you also know there are emotional benefits like optimism, happiness, and feeling more alert and joyful? And there are physical health benefits too – such as more robust immune systems, lower blood pressure, and better sleep. So, take some time this month to make sure your company executives understand the broad-reaching benefits of your employee appreciation platform and the contribution of recognition to positive business outcomes.

2.   2. Invite leaders to send a group or companywide Team Award to celebrate.
Team Awards are a fantastic way to give your culture an infusion of goodwill and gratitude – and there’s no better time than National Gratitude Month! Maybe you’ll celebrate a milestone or goal achieved. Maybe you will welcome employees back to the office or celebrate their efforts over a challenging year. Whatever the reason, giving the entire organization a Team Award can deliver an outsized impact.

3.   Encourage employees to use their points.
One of the more overlooked benefits of a recognition program is the power of the reward to create reciprocal feelings of gratitude – and extend the good feelings further. So, this season is a fantastic time to encourage your employees to redeem points and create a tangible, lasting reminder of the appreciation they’ve received. Talk with your account team about some of the ways we can help you automate reminders.

4.   Use employee intranet or social channels to encourage reflection.
Internal social channels are another amazing tool for encouraging employees to use your recognition platform and cultivating a culture of recognition. Inspire employees to express their thanks and appreciation to one another by using hashtags, contests, giveaways, and storytelling over internal social channels, intranet, and even offline spaces.

5.   Organize a Community Celebration around gratitude.
Purpose is an essential idea for helping employees feel connected and aligned. At this time of year, you might be considering how your organization can give back together. Whether by supporting one another through ESGs or volunteering in the community, be sure you are celebrating and commemorating group efforts through your Community Celebrations® platform.

6.   Show your organization’s gratitude with social media posts.
Workhuman helps you express thanks within the walls of your organization, but don’t forget – you can also extend your gratitude to your community, vendors, partners, and customers! Talk to your comms and marketing teams and stage a gratitude takeover of social media platforms to spread the good feelings.

7.   Send a giving message to all employees.
In addition to establishing a mindful environment where gratitude can thrive, you should consider proactively reaching out to employees. You can remind them it is National Gratitude Month and challenge them to reflect on someone at work who supported or helped them this year.

8.   Leverage the Season of Giving toolkit and templates.
We have developed templates and ideas to help you craft many of the communications listed above. Download your Season of Giving toolkit here!
